Las Vegas is one of my favorite places to escape. Just a few hours from San Diego, it’s a fairly easy weekend getaway too. Money, dressing up and entertainment are the name of the game here.
Especially for first timers, you've got to try the iconic Vegas experiences.
Sleep like a baby, or don’t. – Vegas hotels, like everything else in Vegas, are magnificent. Décor, amenities, service. You name it and Vegas casino hotels have it. Splurge on a nice suite with a good table game floor and start earning points with them for free valet and other discounts to use within the casino’s network of properties.
Eat (and drink) like the queen you are. Buffets, cafes, bars and lounges. There is so much amazing food and so many cool bars in Vegas you have to enjoy the best of it all while you can. Bellagio has a great champagne buffet on the weekends and you have to take in the view at the Stratosphere during happy hour.
See a show – Vegas shows are unlike anywhere else in the world. If you picked nice casino to call home during your stay, check out the shows they offer first to see what kind of discounts you can get from staying there. Brittney Spears and Criss Angel are two shows I am dying to see, but somehow have missed on my last few visits.
Gamble! No trip to Las Vegas could possibly be complete without playing a few games! Craps is a fun table game for when you’re with a group and you don’t need to know every rule to play and win money too. (Field all the way!) Blackjack is another favorite of mine. I’ve found when it’s less busy the other players and the dealer will help beginners decide when to hit or stay. And you can’t forget about slots and video poker while you’re enjoying cocktails at the bar. A couple years ago one of my friends won $5,000 once on video poker while we we’re having a drink at the bar, so give it a try!
Every Vegas trip must come to an end (and after a few days you’ll be ready to go, trust me!
