All the way across the country from home in San Diego lies my second favorite beach city in the U.S. – Miami!
I spent three days here in September and fell in love with the place. The city is huge and combines ocean views with cityscapes to make one unique place to relax under the sun. Depending on where in Miami you will be staying you will want to fly into either the Miami or Fort Lauderdale airports. I flew into Ft. Lauderdale because I was staying in North Miami.
I spent two full days doing nothing more than sunbathing and swimming in the warm ocean waters of both South Beach and Sunny Isles Beach.
Other than soaking up Florida vibes I explored local eateries from all kinds of different cultures. Something that seems to be a dominant personality trait of the city. I enjoyed Argentinian coffee and baked goods, Thai dinner, Russian, and French and Columbian breakfasts. It was fun and delicious experiencing delicacies from other cultures I normally would not. So much good food!
We even went to an Irish bar in South Beach – Finnegan’s – to refuel after a full day on the beach. And to enjoy a giant Margarita-Corona combo drink! I have been wanting to drink one of these for as long as I have been of age and party central South Beach was the perfect place to do just that!
Monday night we went to Rockwell Nightclub for a few drinks and night of dancing. The place is somewhat small, but if you like rap and hip hop and dancing, this cozy joint is the perfect place to reserve a VIP table and be in the mix of it all.
I got lucky with the Florida weather up until the last day when it rained most the day. Even so, the lightning storms were cool to watch and i won't complain about another day of pure relaxation to end probably the most relaxing vacation I have taken.
