Ever since I went to the Sedona Yoga Festival I have been itching to experience another event like it. Wanderlust wasn't hosting a festival near San Diego this year, but it was holding a one day Wanderlust 108 triathlon this May. On Mother Day my roommate and I met up with some of my coworkers for the one day festival. It stared at NTC Liberty Station Park with check in at 7:30 AM with cloudy skies and chilly temperatures.
The 5k run started at 9 AM with MC Yogi cheering us on. We ran through nature trials, over a footbridge and along the water with the Downtown San Diego skyline with our backdrop. Running with a couple thousand people is so much fun! And made the running much more easy than I ever remember running being.
The run was followed by tribal body painting and intermission to collect samples and free stuff galore the sun was shining warm and bright! So very San Diego and perfect for our yogi vibes.
The triathlon continued with a dance party hosted by MC Yogi who really good the good vibes going! I was sitting on my mat watching and was drawn to the stage to dance with the thousands of other enjoying the awesome music and great atmosphere.
After dancing it out we all returned to our mats for Vinyasa Flow. MC Yogi was cracking jokes and keeping it light and fun, the sun was shining down as warm as ever. If I had not been here I definitely would have been at the beach with this weather!
After yoga we saw through a guided mediation and mindfulness talk. It's always nice to hear and experience teachings from people of all different walks of life. This one in particular was led by a man who tuned his criminal and drug abusing life around from jail with the practice of meditation, and has since dedicated his life to helping those in the same situations he was once in.
My favorite take away from the talk was "let go of the need to make this moment anything, but what it is" It spoke to me. I'm always looking forward to something else, or noticing how something could improve and it's a nice reminder to just appreciate what it is right now.
There were other activities like slack lining, barre, aireal and acroyoga as well! By the end of the day I was exhausted and my body was so sore the next day! It was an amazing experience and for just $39 I absolutely got more from it then I paid for!
Have you ever done Wanderlust? How did you like it?
