I never used to be a winter or cold weather person. I’m still not, but San Diego winters are sprinkled with beach days in the 70s and 80s making the colder days in between much more bearable. This winter I have several trips planned that are going to be so much fun! But there are a few things not yet planned, that I want to – and will – make happen!
Christmas with the Fam
All the Southern California family is geting together on the 23rd to celebrate the holiday and eat great food together. It's always a nice soul refresher to hang with a ton of family, catch up and be merry.
Friends from home are coming to visit and we are attending what will be an amazing black tie masquerade party at CAKE Nightclub in the Gaslamp Quarter of Downtown San Diego! The dress is purchased, the tickets are booked – all that’s left is to find that perfect midnightkiss!
Vegas trip – January 15-17
I’m going with my best friend Brittanie and her husband Jamal. The plan is the drive in on the early side Friday and then explore Downtown Vegas and the Fremont area Friday day and evening. Saturday night we will go for a nice dinner and Vegas shenanigans, Sunday we might throw in a hike through Red Rock Canyon before heading back to San Diego. I vow to finally get a picture with the legendary “Welcome to Vegas” sign.
Hike Zion National Park – January 16
Notice the Vegas dates overlap with this Utah trip? Zion National Park is three hours from Vegas so Saturday January 16 we will get up before the sun for day of hiking angels landing, up the insanely frightening switchbacks, even farther up from the even more scary looking narrow, chained trail to the peak. I’ve never been to Utah and the photographer (although scary) do look gorgeous and I cannot wait to check this hike off my bucket list.
Sedona Yoga Festival – March 10-13
In March I am going on my first solo-trip and my first yoga festival! I’ve volunteered to work the Sedona Yoga Festival a few hours each day in exchange for a heavily discounted entrance fee to what is going to be a spiritual and awakening yoga retreat. I cannot wait to perfect my down dog with the energy of Sedona, meet yogi friends and hike the red rocks of Arizona. The trip isn’t completely planned, but it may get extended for a visit to Scottsdale and/or the Grand Canyon. I haven’t been to Arizona yet either so this trip will be even more special.
I don’t have anything planned in February yet, but the one goal I will set for myself is to get a date for Valentine’s Day. This could be a friend date or a new romantic interest, but I will have pans and it will be a fun, happy day. I will not allow the single life to stand in my way of being the true romantic I am. Through all the years I spent with my ex we never had a good valentine’s day together. This year will be different, even if I’m single and just spend it with friends – it will be glorious!
The Painted Canyons hike is close to Palm Springs and one I have been eye balling for a long time. it would require an overnight stay in that area and would be perfect for the cooler days of winter.
Next year I have set a goal to try 12 new workouts in 12 months – one for each month of the year. I’m planning to start with pole dancing class because I’ve always wanted to try it out and I bought a few friends classes so they can join in the fun with me. Who wants to pole dance alone?! Check out what else is on my list that I’ll be diving into this winter!
It’s possible that there may be another trip to San Francisco thrown in somewhere this winter and I’m positive there will be plenty of beach day, margarita sunsets and lazy Sundays. It’s safe to safe I am looking forward to a wonderful winter season!
