You know you’re at “that age” when you attend three weddings in a year. One of my best friends of over 12 years recently got engaged so I jumped at the opportunity (and kind of forced her to let me) plan a fun bachelorette party for her!
When I signed on I had no idea how to plan to a bachelorette party, so I hope these tips will help you plan the perfect night for your bride-to-be.
Your job as the party planner is to take these duties away from the bride-to-be so while you will want to consult with the bride, you will want to take responsibility for all the details. Follow these steps and you will have planned a fun bachelorette party!
1. Evaluate your bride
Is she the clubbing type, or more of a homebody? Does she drink? This will give you a basic idea of the types of activities to look into.
2. Figure out the basic details
Pick a date - At least one week before the wedding or more if there’s time. Confirm this date works with the bride.
Pick a location - Staying local to your city? Or making a trip out of it? There’s always the infamous Las Vegas to consider. Ask the bribe what she prefers.
Ask the bride for names and numbers of all her guests so you can coordinate with them on details and get a final headcount. This will also help you decide what activities to look into.
Start looking up find things to do at a bachelorette party in your area. Good starting points are anything that caters to a group and ladies looking to let loose! Clubs (VIP), pool parties (cabana/day beds), girly adventures like spas (group deals), booze painting events or wine tasting. Some local San Diego activities I looked at were box seats at the horse races, rooftop pool party cabana, pedal bike brewery group tour, pedal boat booze cruise on Mission Bay, wine tasting in Temecula, drag queen show at Lips in North Park (which we went to – sooo fun!)
5. Pump up the fun!
Fun is what this party is all about! I arranged for my group to meet beforehand for a champagne toast to set thee night off right! I also bought bachelorette props from Amazon because they had great prices. I bought these penis straws, this bride-to-be sash and this hilarious penis veil for the bride because it was too funny to pass up. Other fun items could be a blow up doll, sex games and disposable cameras.
My party for Brittanie went like this:
All the girls met at her house to bust out the penis props and have a champagne toast. Next we went to Splash Wine Lounge & Bistro in North Park for wine tasting in our reserved area. Then we hopped around to a few differnt bars, ate street tacos and (I think one of the funniest parts) stopped at a liquorstore to buy mini bottles of alcohol, limes and otter pops to pass around shot-lime-otter pop. It was really funny at the time! We ended the night at Lips with a haliarious interactive taboo drag queen show and then safely uber'd to our respective homes. It was such a fun night! We stayed on schedule suprisingly well, laughed and all had so much fun!
